Motorcycles of Manchester Inc., affectionately known as MOM’s, has been a household name in the north east motorcycle industry for over thirty five years serving their customers with quality motorcycles and excellent service. Established by Harold Bishop of Gate City Cycles in 1973, MOM’s was managed by and later purchased and incorporated by Joe Wheeler. MOM’s started from humble beginnings in a 4200 square foot store located at 98 Willow Street. MOM’s had a successful first year with their no pressure, high quality buying experience they provided to their customers. MOM’s was founded on the principle “I’d rather make a friend than a buck” ~ Wayne Wheeler. This basic concept turned infectious creating several decades of loyal repeat customers as well as new customers.

MOM’s evolved through out the years to meet their customer’s needs being the leader in Triumphs and later other imports the dirt bike boom selling the European Ossa and the Hodaka dirt and trial bikes taking its customers through the burms and whoop de do’s in the early seventies. In the later part of the seventies MOM’s took on the Canadian Can-Am Franchise selling enduro bikes and taking the crown as the largest volume dealer for several consecutive years through 1986. In the eighties MOM’s brought the American made ATK dirt bikes to their store after the fall of Can-Am and continued to provide the latest craze and excellence in the dirt world.

MOM’s survived the rough economy in the nineties by exporting pre-owned motorcycles to Holland, Russia, England, Ireland, and South America. The market for pre-owned motorcycles grew in the US in the late nineties for the average guy who wanted a Harley but couldn’t afford a new cycle so MOM’s was there to meet their needs. Why buy from a private sale when you could purchase a bike from MOM’s that was fully serviced and warranteed. Customers tore up the streets on their motorcycles they bought from MOM’s. With the demand for pro-owned bikes growing, MOM’s had outgrown their space and added onto to their Manchester, New Hampshire location creating a second floor making their store 20000 square feet with a state of the art show room and parts department.

MOM’s was so successful in the pre-owned market they decided to expand the business and open a second store in Massachusetts. They bought the building in 2002 and renovated the property. MOM’South opened in March of 2003 located just south of Gillette Stadium on Route 1 in Foxboro, Massachusetts under the helm of Joe Wheeler’s son Joel Wheeler. The market expanded to women riders and first time riders. MOM’s and MOM’South was their again to meet their needs by taking on the Hyosung Motorcycle Franchise which provided the best all around entry level cruiser with comfort, size, and price.

MOM’South grew rapidly during the first two years of opening and took on another up and coming franchise, Victory Motorcycles, in 2005. Victory competed directly with the Harley Davidson market being the only American made cycle, born from Polaris Industries ten years ago. MOM’South gave the motorcycle enthusiast a whole new option for their motorcycles needs by offering Victory’s sleek style, performance, comfort, and competitive pricing. MOM’South became the world fastest growing Victory Dealer in 2005 and the largest Victory Dealer in the world in 2006, 2007, and 2008. From their initial order of 25 bikes in 2005 to over 200 new and used Victories bikes in stock in 2009 MOM’South continues to provide their customers with Victory’s full line up of motorcycles and accessories including the all New 2010 Victory Cross Roads and Cross Country, the highly acclaimed Victory Vision Street and Tour, the custom look of the Victory Jackpot, Victory King Pin, Victory Vegas, the tough looking Victory Hammer and Hammer S as well their 8-Ball cruiser series and the Ness Signature Custom Series.

MOM’South expanded their Polaris Industries Franchise and took on the full line of Polaris ATV’s in 2006, offering their customers a fun family activity that all ages can enjoy. Not only can the Polaris ATV’s be fun but practical as well, accessorized with a plow set up and sander for winter snow removal or landscape bucket for yard clean-up. MOM’s met the needs for the average household but found they had customers who needed more than an ATV so they took on the Polaris Ranger UTV line in 2007. The Ranger line met the needs for their farmers, hunters, maintenance workers, and civil workers. MOM’South outfitted several Rangers with medical equipment for local municipalities such as the Walpole Police and Fire Department and Foxboro Fire Department providing a heavy duty vehicle for emergency response in those tough to get to places. MOM’South had three of the four product lines from Polaris and found that there was a demand for snowmobiles so they took on the fourth product line and introduced the Polaris Snow Line in 2008.

MOM’s felt it was time to bring in a franchise into the Manchester store and picked up on the Yamaha Franchise in 2007. MOM’S offered the full line Yamaha motorcycles, ATV’s, dirt bikes, and snowmobiles becoming the fastest growing Yamaha dealer in 2007. MOM’s is a proud sponsor of employee, Matt Eysie, a B rider in the NETRA Series providing a quality Yamaha WR450 dirt bike and race accessories.

In 2008, MOM’s and MOM’South expanded offerings to include winter storage to their customers with for an unbeatable price that included heated storage, winterization and spring inspection sticker. They also continued their layaway program giving customers the opportunity to layaway a bike during the winter time with no storage fees until the following spring where they have the option to pay the balance with tax money or financing. In 2009, MOM’South saw the need for motorcycle rentals in their area and introduced EagleRider Motorcycle Rental in the Foxboro location. Eagle Rider provides Victory, Honda and Harley Davidson motorcycles rentals with reasonable daily rental rates for the try before you buy opportunity. Eagle Rider Rentals have been booked solid since August giving MOM’s customers the ultimate power in bike buying decision.
